Marcella C. Wood
Marcella C. Wood, 87, of (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg, died Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Heritage Ridge Senior Living at Windy Hill, Philipsburg.
Marcella was born on August 22, 1937, in Hawk Run, a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Genevieve J. (Burge) Pollock.
She was a graduate of the former Morris Township High School.
Early in her career, she was employed as a DNA. She then accepted a position as the activities director for the Presbyterian Homes, Philipsburg. She was employed at the original building (the former Philips Hotel) and then at the current facility located in (North) Philipsburg. She served for nearly 50 years at that position until her retirement.
Marcella was married on August 1, 1959, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Hawk Run, to Robert S. “Red” Wood; he preceded her in death on December 14, 2019.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Marie Wood; a sister, Ann Hummel; and a brother, John M. Pollock.
She is survived by daughter, Janet L. Millard and her fiance, David Stallings, of Baltimore, Maryland; a son, Robert S. Wood, Jr. and his wife, Geraldine, of St. Cloud, Florida; six grandchildren: Jared, Colleen, Jessica, Jacob, Savannah and Amanda; five great-grandchildren: Landon, Johanna, Luna, Jace and Kai; a sister, Genevieve Border, of Moshannon; a brother, Andrew Pollock and his wife, Kathleen, of (Pardee) RD Philipsburg; numerous other extended family members and two beloved furbabies, “Lacy Lu” and “Bunny.”
Marcella was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg and the First Catholic Slovak Union (Jednota). Among her hobbies, she loved to read.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 9:00 am, at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
