Elizabeth A. Straw
Elizabeth A. Straw, 75, of West Decatur, PA died on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her residence.
Born on July 19, 1938 in Gearhartville, RD Philipsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mac R. & Violet E. (Brown) Dickson. She married James H. Straw on March 2, 1958 at the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg, PA; who survives at home.
Mrs. Straw was a member of the First Church of Christ, RD Philipsburg, PA, where she was a member of the Edith Shimmel Missionary Society and the quilt ministry. She had been employed with a number of local businesses, most recently she had been employed as a waitress for the former Arena Restaurant at the Harbor Inn Motel in Philipsburg, PA, until her retirement. She was a 1957 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a son, Daniel Allen Straw; a sister, Donna Harris; and two brothers, Mac R. Dickson, Jr. & Gaylon E. Dickson.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Straw is survived by: two sons, Larry J. Straw & his wife Penny of RD Philipsburg, PA and Robert D. Straw of West Decatur, PA; and a brother Patrick D. Dickson & his wife Mary Lou of West Decatur, PA. She is also survived by: five grandchildren, Danielle Curtorillo & her husband Anthony of Philipsburg, Kylee Kay Straw & her fiance Jon Kimple of Philipsburg, and Daniel Trey Straw, Trevor Allen Straw & Travis Kephart Straw, all of West Decatur; three great-granddaughters, Liberty, Evelynn & Anabelle Curtorillo, all of Philipsburg; one daughter-in-law, Carla J. (Kephart) Straw of West Decatur, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the First Church of Christ, RD Philipsburg, PA, with Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating. Burial will be at the Stoneville Cemetery in RD West Decatur, PA.
Visitation will be Monday, June 23, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, PA; and on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, PA.
