Bertha R. Steele
Bertha R. Steele, 80, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Bertha was born on July 23, 1943, in West Decatur, a daughter of the late Homer R. and Helen R. (Fleck) Steele.
Early in her working career, Bertha moved to Hightstown, New Jersey, and accepted a position as an assembler with Triboro Electric. She remained with the company for about 24 years until a disability required her retirement in 1989.
Bertha is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L. Steele, of Roebling, New Jersey; three grandchildren: Jessica Weaver, of Florida, Jennifer Keister and her husband, Mark, of Burlington, New Jersey and Josh Weaver, of Hamilton, New Jersey; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion E. Wilks and her husband, John, of Port Matilda and Jane A. Wilson and her husband, Rev. Jodie Wilson, of State College; and numerous other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer R. Steele, Jr and Charles R. Steele, in addition to her parents.
Among her favorite pastimes, Bertha enjoyed making crafts that included glass beaded bracelets, Christmas ornaments and ceramic items. She also enjoyed playing bingo.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 1 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with Rev. Jodie Wilson, brother-in-law of the deceased, officiating. A visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 am until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery, Woodland
