Larry R. Perks, Sr.
Larry R. Perks, Sr., 71, of West Decatur, died Monday, December 3, 2018, at his residence.
Larry was born on March 18, 1947, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Theodore and Geraldine (Droll) Perks.
He was a 1965 graduate of the Philipsburg – Osceola Area High School. Following high school, he served with the US Army during the Vietnam War era.
Larry was employed as a truck driver throughout most of his working career. His time behind the wheel included cross country trips as an over-the road driver; local routes delivering parts for Smeal’s Enterprises, Inc., of Philipsburg; and as a driver for a USPS contractor.
He was a member of a few local organizations, including: Philipsburg VFW Post #3450, where he was a Past Vice-Commander; Philipsburg American Legion, Post #437; Philipsburg AMVETS, Post #159; Clearfield LOOMoose, Lodge #97, Wallaceton; and the Carpathian Club, Hawk Run.
Larry is survived by his companion, Cynthia L. Greenawalt, her daughter Ashley, and Ashley’s son, Tucker, all who survive at home; two daughters, Lori Ann and Lisa Ann Perks, both of Tampa, Florida; two sisters, Debbie Perks, of Philipsburg and Tammy Moriarity and her husband, Tim, of Morrisdale; two brothers, Dennis Perks and his wife, Gerry, of Houtzdale and Theodore Perks, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Allport; and a number of extended family members.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Perks, Jr.; and two sisters, Betsy Picard and Sherry Bowman.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Philipsburg American Legion, Post #437, Honor Guard on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 10:30 am, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
