Sara Jane Maurer
Sara Jane Maurer, 88, of Philipsburg, PA passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg, PA.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph & Agnes (Mason) Carter, born on December 4, 1924 in Philipsburg, PA. She married Michael Lawrence, who passed away in 1959. She then married James E. Maurer on April 2, 1971 in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2006.
Mrs. Maurer was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Philipsburg, PA and enjoyed crocheting. She was a homemaker and a mother.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, Joseph and James Carter; three sisters, Mildred Rafferty, Thelma Carter and Mary Meyers; and a grandson, Steven Way. She was the last of her generation.
Mrs. Maurer is survived by: three daughters, Beatrice Vaughn & her husband David of Port Matilda, PA, Sandra Coval & her husband Donald of Leesburg, FL, and Judith Way & her husband Dennis of Port Matilda, PA; and two sons, Michael Lawrence & his wife Gail of Morrisdale, PA;and David Lawrence & his wife Donna of Allport, PA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at: Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg, PA, with Rev. Stephen G. Durr officiating. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.
There will be no public visitation.
