Walter M. Maines
Walter M. Maines, 80, of Philipsburg, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Walter was born on October 14, 1944, in Clearfield, a son of the late Mitchell Maines and Vida L. (Bumbarger) Maines Kennedy.
He was employed as a construction laborer for most of his working career. Later in his career, he accepted a position with an amusement company and traveled throughout the eastern United States working at various fairs and carnivals.
He was a member of the West Branch Sportsman’s Club, Morrisdale.
Walter was married on August 13, 1988, in New Hampshire, to the former Carol A. Alarie, who survives at home.
He is also survived by Carol’s three daughters: Ann Lester (Bill), of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Mary Riendeau, of Connecticut and Lisa Riendeau (Herve), of Florida; Carol’s two sons: Thomas Giguere (Anna), of Pascoag, Rhode Island and Alan Giguere (Lori Gorup), of Chester Hill; two sisters: Eleanor Bloom, of Hyde and Violet Dixon, of Philipsburg; two brothers, Willard “Will” Maines and his companion, Patty Perks, of Sharon and Ernest Maines, Sr. and his companion, Gloria Jessup, of Brockport, Pa.; Carol’s 14 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Alan Kennedy; three sisters: Beverly Bratton, Alice Harris and Ann Blake; five brothers: Frederick M. “Fred” Maines, Timothy M. Maines, Sr., William “Bill” Maines, Thomas “Tom” Pike and Daniel “Danny” Maines; and a step-son, Edgar Giguere.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
