Marie C. “Susie” Jones
Marie C. “Susie” Jones, 91, of (South) Philipsburg, died Saturday, February 22, 2025, at her residence. Marie passed away peacefully with her daughter, Diane, and grandson, Aaron, by her side.
Marie was born on September 8, 1933, a daughter of the late John V. and Anna M. (Kalina) Kosut.
She was a 1952 graduate of the former Morris Township High School.
Early in her career, she was employed at the former (North) Philipsburg General Cigar plant; she was then employed with Charles Navasky & Co. until her retirement.
Marie was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg. She was also a member of the National Slovak Society.
Marie served on the South Philipsburg Board of Elections for many years.
Marie was married on May 29, 1969, in Osceola Mills, to Paul B. Jones, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffrey Alan Jones; a sister, Irene Satur; three brothers John, Martin and Edward Kosut; and a brother-in-law, Robert Jones.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane M. Henninger, of (Hudson) RD Philipsburg; a son, Joseph P. Jones and his wife, Christina, of Henley, Missouri; three grandchildren: Aaron Henninger, Joanna and Zane Jones; a sister-in-law, Beverly J. Steinsiek, of Carlisle; a sister-in-law Phyllis Kosut of Hollidaysburg; and numerous other extended family members.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 5 until 7 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.
A private interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
