Dorothy Marie Brown
Dorothy Marie Brown, 95, of Clearfield, and formerly of Philipsburg, died Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield.
Dorothy was born on August 31, 1925, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Thomas and Cora (Fry) Dixon.
Dorothy was a graduate of the former Morris Township High School.
Early in her working career, she was employed with Ibberson’s Pharmacy and Shugart’s Shoes, both formerly located in Philipsburg.
Dorothy returned to school and she graduated from South Hills Business College, State College.
Following graduation, she accepted a position as a customer service rep with CNB Bank. She remained with the bank until her retirement.
Dorothy was a parishioner of Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, for over 65 years.
She was married on July 21, 1948, at Trinity United Methodist Church, to George W. Brown, who preceded her in death on March 11, 2012.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Thomas Dixon.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Abbott and her husband, Barry, of (Treasure Lake) DuBois and Patricia “Trish” Richardson and her husband, James “Bert,” of (Stumptown) RD Osceola Mills; five grandchildren: John Abbott and his wife, Tricia, of Mount Airy, Maryland, Ryan Abbott, of Larchmont, New York, Shannon Kellgren and her husband, Kurt, of Bethel Park, Erika Richardson, of Oviedo, Florida and Seth Richardson, of Winter Springs, Florida; eight great-grandchildren: Kaleb Richardson, Paige, Paiton, Colin, Layla and Stella Abbott, Tyler and Tanner Kellgren; and numerous other extended family members.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Donald Smith, officiating.
Interment will be in Ashcroft Cemetery, Hawk Run.
