Jack Foley
Jack Foley, 87, of (South) Philipsburg, died Monday, June 11, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on June 3, 1931, in (New Liberty) RD Philipsburg, a son of Martin Foley and Frances (McGlynn) McGee Foley, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg. He was a 1950 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. Following high school, Jack served with the US Army during the Korean War era.
Jack was a retired labor foreman with the Construction and General Laborers Union, Local 824, Bellefonte.
He was married on April 7, 1956, in Philipsburg, to the former Patricia A. Poorman, who survives at home.
He is also survived by two daughters, Jacqueline M. Bullis, of Snow Hill, Maryland and Cynthia F. Quick and her husband, Norman, of Sinking Spring (Pa.); seven grandchildren: Meganne and Tyler Quick, Charles, Katie and Bridget Bullis and two grandsons that Jack and Patricia raised as their own, Christopher Foley and Ryan Held; seven great-grandchildren: Lucas, Jonah and Ella Rose Foley, Gabriel Brown, Layla Bullis and Oliver and Oscar Held; and a number of extended family members.
Jack was preceded in death by one daughter, Leslie Ann Foley-Held; one sister, Mary (McGee) Reed; two brothers, Martin and Charles Foley; and three half-brothers, Daniel, Bernard and Desmond McGee, in addition to his parents.
Jack was an avid baseball fan, baseball card collector and a diehard Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed playing cards for many years as a member of the “Hungry Club.” Also, he had been involved with the local teener and little league baseball programs.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 11 am, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 400 S. 4th. Street, Philipsburg, with Rev. John Gibbons, celebrant.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 4 to 7 pm at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, and on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Mass.
Rosary will be recited at 4 pm and a Christian Vigil Service will be held at 6:45 pm, both on Wednesday at the funeral home
Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, (Tyrone Pike) RD Philipsburg.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
