Helen Czar
Helen Czar, 99, of Philipsburg and formerly of Osceola Mills and Chester Hill, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Heritage Ridge Senior Living at Windy Hill, Philipsburg.
Helen was born on October 31, 1925, in Osceola Mills, a daughter of the late Steven and Anna (Comitz) Danko.
She was married on January 14, 1947, to William Czar, who preceded her in death on September 13, 1995.
During her working career, she was employed at the Arena Restaurant and Wharf Lounge both formerly located in the Harbor Inn, Philipsburg, until her retirement.
Helen was a member of Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Chester Hill. She was also previously a member of Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Osceola Mills. Helen was a member the Philipsburg Valley Voices and the Philipsburg VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Eckberg, of Philipsburg and Shirley A. Kreamer, of Marysville, Pa.; one son, Thomas M. “Tom” (Tina) Czar, of Philipsburg; seven grandchildren: Gregory Eckberg, David (Lori) Eckberg, Hilary (Todd) McCurdy, Rob Kreamer, Amanda Czar, Annetta (Colton) Reese and Amy (Dave) Bloom; eight great-grandchildren (“with one on the way”); two brothers, Eugene (Barbara) Danko, of Osceola Mills and Nicholas Danko, of Philipsburg; and numerous other extended family members.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, William Steven “Steve” Czar; a sister, Betty Ann; and three brothers: Albert, Steven and John Danko.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with Archm. Jacob Piruta, officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, Chester Hill.
