Betsy Barnett
Betsy Barnett, 90, of Philipsburg, died Monday, July 15, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Betsy was born on March 12, 1934, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late J. Donald and Elizabeth Olga (Stohl) Dunsmore.
Betsy was a 1952 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg.
Early in her working career, she was employed with the Purity Dairy Co., formerly located in Philipsburg. She was then employed as a secretary for Philipsburg Borough. However, she spent most of her career employed as a secretary at the Philipsburg branch of the former First National Bank (now known as M&T Bank). She remained with First National until her retirement.
Betsy was married on August 19, 1955, in Philipsburg, to Ronald J. Barnett, who preceded her in death on June 24, 2022.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard A. “Barney” Barnett; and two brothers, Robert Dunsmore and David “Bird” Dunsmore.
Betsy is survived by a daughter, Lisa A. McCamley and her husband, Tim, of Philipsburg; five grandchildren: Matt McCamley and his wife, Emma, of Pittsburgh, Kurt McCamley and his wife, Anna, of Ramey, Corissa Plazarin and her husband, Richard, of Florida, Alyssa Raffetto and her husband, Daniel, of State College and Ryan Barnett, of Philipsburg; five great-grandchildren: Emilee Plazarin, Dominic and Ava Raffetto, Parker McCamley and Sawyer McCamley; her late son’s (Barney) surviving spouse, Gabriele “Gabi” (Berdel) Healey and her husband, Mike, of Philipsburg; and numerous other extended family members.
A Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11 am, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with Rev. Matthias Rendon, celebrant.
Immediately following the conclusion of the service, the family will receive guests at the funeral home on Saturday until 2 pm.
Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
