Barbara A. Gathagan
Barbara A. “Barb” Gathagan, 64, of (South) Philipsburg, died Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at her residence, one day short of her 65th. birthday.
Barb was born on July 11, 1959, in (North) Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Stephen P. “Steve” and Dorothy Mae (Brown) Kozak.
She was a graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. She was also a graduate of the Licensed Practical Nursing program at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center.
During her working career as an LPN, she was employed with Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville; and then she worked as a private duty nurse.
Among her favorite pastimes, Barb enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles.
Barb is survived by a brother, Stephen M. “Steve” Kozak and his fiancee, Kathy Bennett, of (South) Philipsburg; three aunts: Marcella Shadek, Mildred Shaw and Susan Haines; two nieces, Patricia Ann Piwowar (Jason) and Brandy Dawn Sandoval (Aaron) and family; four nephews: Doug Kozak and family, Steven G. Kozak (Amanda) and family, Michael Lanich and Eric Lanich and family. She is also survived by numerous other extended family members.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, RD Philipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made in Barb’s memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
