M. Louise Lloyd
M. Louise Lloyd, 87, of (North) Philipsburg, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Louise was born on January 3, 1937, in (North) Philipsburg, a daughter of the late John M. and Ruth E. (Test) Ashcroft.
Louise was a 1954 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. Following high school, she enrolled in the former Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1957.
Louise spent most of her working career serving as a Registered Nurse with the former Philipsburg State General Hospital. When the hospital closed, she accepted a nursing position for a brief period with SCI Rockview. She then returned to Philipsburg and accepted a nursing position with the former Philipsburg Area Hospital and remained there until her retirement. When her children were younger, she also did some home health / private duty nursing while helping to raise a family.
Louise was married on February 14, 1959, in Morrisdale, to Benjamin Calvin Lloyd, who preceded her in death on February 16, 2014.
Louise was a member of the gFree Church, (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen J. Lloyd-Pillot and her husband, Neil, of Thompsontown; a son, Benjamin “Calvin” Lloyd, II and his wife, Tracy, of (Hopewell Township) Aliquippa; five grandchildren: Jay, Adam and Nicholas Pillot, all of Thompsontown and Abigail Lloyd and Rebecca Lloyd and her fiancé, Brian Reisker, all of Aliquippa; a sister, Eleanor Godissart and her husband, Clair “Bud”, of (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg; one niece; two nephews and numerous other extended family members.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 11 am, at the gFree Church, 305 Keystone Hill Road, Philipsburg, with Pastor Noel Meyers and Rev. Dr. John A. Godissart, nephew of the deceased, co-officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm; and on Monday at the church from 10 am until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
