Knew Bill from when I played Teener League and High School ball with Jeff and when I worked outages at Shawville. He was a really nice man. I always enjoyed being around him. He also gave me a puppy out of one of his litters when I was a kid. Sympathies to the family.

I was very grieved to read of Bill’s passing in the CDT this morning. Bill, Don Wilkinson and I played drums together for the Philipsburg Blue and White band under John Manner from seventh grade on. I remember that, for some unexplained reason, all the senior snare drummers in the Blue band quit and the three of us, beginning in the summer between sixth and seventh grades were thrown into the fray … much to the disappointment of the older band members as we were very young and inexperienced. Over the ensuing years, though, we became accepted and had many happy and rewarding years playing together in parades and concerts. I must say that Bill was a very good “natural” drummer and my memories of him are fond, indeed.
Rest In Peace, my friend.
