Reverend Doctor A. Glenn “Doc” Williams

Reverend Doctor A. Glenn “Doc” Williams, 72, of Curwensville passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Colonial Courtyard in Clearfield, PA.

He was the son of the late James and Dorothy (Winslow) Williams, born on November 14, 1940 in Curwensville, PA.  He married the former Carla Jean Rishel on September 4, 1982 in Curwensville, PA.  She preceded him in death on October 12, 2010.

Doc, as he was known to his friends and parishioners, was a 1958 graduate of the Curwensville High School and was a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic Medicine in Davenport, Iowa.  He graduated from the Diocesan School for Ministry and was ordained a Deacon of the Episcopal Church of the Erie Diocese on November 26, 2005.  He was then ordained an Episcopal priest on June 7, 2006.

Upon graduating from Palmer, he worked as a chiropractor in South Carolina.  He then moved back to Pennsylvania where he established his business, “The Village Chiropractor” in Curwensville.  He continued his practice until his retirement in 2011.  Currently he was priest in charge of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Clearfield and was later appointed priest in charge of St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Osceola Mills after the death of his wife Vicar Carla Jean Williams, who was the priest in charge of St. Laurence.

He was a member and past master (1985) of Noble Lodge #480, Free & Accepted Masons, in Curwensville and was a member of the Chapter, Council and Consistory in the Valley of Coudersport.  He was also a member and president of the Anderson Creek Watershed Authority.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-son, William Osborn.

He is survived by: a sister, Anna Marie Wallace & her husband Robert of Palmyra, PA; a sister-in-law, Edith Ann Young of Curwensville; and several nieces & nephews.

Private funeral services and burial were held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville, PA.

A public memorial service will be held on a date to be announced.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg, PA.
