Francis J. Petriskey

Francis J. Petriskey, 95, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Windy Hill Village, P.S.L., Philipsburg.

Born on June 27, 1920 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late John and Mae (Supenia) Petrisky.

Mr. Petriskey was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philipsburg and was an Army veteran of W.W. II. He was also a life member of the American Legion, John Ashley Dennis Post # 437; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Louis Jenkins Post # 3450; and the B.P.O. Elks, # 1173, all of Philipsburg. He had worked at the Poe Valley C.C.C. camp after graduating high school and was an avid deer and and turkey hunter.

He had worked in the coal industry for ten years and then worked as an electrical crew member constructing the high-tension power lines. Mr. Petriskey then was employed as a guard at the Curtiss Wright Corp. in Quehanna. He lastly worked as a corrections officer at the Rockview Prison for many years until retiring in 1982.

He was a 1938 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.

On September 9, 1948, he married the former Charlotte Mae Kennelley, who preceded him in death on November 27, 1990.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald Comitz of Royers Ford, Pennsylvania and John Petriskey and his wife, Holly of Hawk Run; and a brother, William Petriskey of Osceola Mills.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kimberly Riggs of Reading; Patrick Petriskey and his wife, Nicole of Allport; Andrew Petriskey of Philipsburg, and four great-grandchildren, Kyle and Christopher Riggs; and Elma and Ella Petriskey.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with Rev. William R. Walker, officiating.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
