William R. “Bill” Laird

William R. “Bill” Laird, 67, of Philipsburg, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.

Born April 3, 1949, in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Robert and Jean (Whitehead) Laird.

Bill was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War era. He was also a member of the Moshannon Lodge #391 F. & A.M., Philipsburg.

Bill was a 1967 graduate of the Philipsburg – Osceola Area High School.

He was married on August 25, 1973, in Iowa, to the former Kerrie Killian, who survives at home.

He was employed as a HVAC mechanic with the Office of Physical Plant at Penn State, University Park Campus, until his retirement.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Bonita (Kerfoot) Laird.

In addition to his wife, Kerrie, he is survived by two daughters, Brandi Laird and her husband, Travis Smith, of Belmont, North Carolina, and Danielle Laird and her companion, Greg Nelson, of  Philipsburg; one son, Ryan Laird and his companion, Jennifer Putman, of Watertown, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Benjamin Laird, of Watertown, Wisc., Emersyn Nelson and Hadley Nelson, both of Philipsburg; two sisters, Leslie Cushard and her husband, William, of Woodstock, Georgia, and Sally Laird, of Philipsburg; two brothers, Thomas Laird and his wife, Beth, of Philipsburg, and Robert Laird, of Philipsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Noon, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg. The visitation will be on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.
