Anne Hvizdos

Anne Hvizdos, 94, of (Pardee) RD Philipsburg, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Windy Hill Village, PSL, Philipsburg.

Born December 18, 1922, in Hawk Run, she was a daughter of the late Metro and Anna (Prestash) Gula.

Anne was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Hawk Run. She served as a cantrix for her church for over 50 years.

She was married on November 25, 1969, at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Hawk Run, to James E. Hvizdos, whom preceded her in death on February 16, 2011.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Gula; one infant sister, Anna; and one infant brother, Nicholas.

Anne is survived by one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Booth, of Lewiston, New York; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 1:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Hawk Run, with Fr. William Rupp, Celebrant, with Deacon Dennis M. Prestash.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 6 to 8 pm, at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Hawk Run, and on Wednesday, from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral liturgy at the church.

Parastas will be on Tuesday at 7 pm at the church.

Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hawk Run.
