Shirley “Ruth” Hill

Shirley “Ruth” Hill, 85, of Philipsburg, died Saturday, August 20, 2016, at her residence.

Born August 24, 1930, in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Burl M. & Esther E. (Waple) Graffius.

Ruth was a 1951 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

Ruth was married on September 8, 1951, in Philipsburg, to Calvin J. Hill, who preceded her in death on April 14, 2012.

During her life, Ruth was employed with the former General Cigar, Philipsburg and for several years until her retirement in the housekeeping department at Windy Hill Village, P.S.L., Philipsburg. .

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death, by a daughter, Carol Ruth Hill; four sisters: Bette Antolik, Effie Cuppett, Jean Fahr and Rita Oncea; and one brother, Robert Graffius.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Robin Baran, of State College and Brenda Sue Hill and her companion, James Wilson, of Philipsburg and West Decatur, respectively; two grandchildren, Sarah E. Morrison and her husband, Michael, of Marcus Hook and Sidney J. Baran and his fiancée Katie Vanaman, of Downingtown; one great-granddaughter, Genevieve Elise Morrison, of Marcus Hook; one sister, Judith “Judy” Geist, of (South) Philipsburg; one brother Roger Graffius and his wife, Carole, of Morrisdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Timothy D. Richmond, Officiating.

The visitation will be on Monday, August 22, 2016, from 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Morrisdale.
