Born August 23, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Gallegors and Jennie (Stewart) Tomco and her husband, George Tomco.

She was a 1951 graduate of the former Osceola High School. In August of 1951, she married the love of her life, Paul Brooks Dixon, in Winchester, Virginia.

The two of them made their home in West Decatur. They had two children, Douglas Brooks Dixon and David Wayne Dixon. Following her husband’s death, Janet raised the children and was a homemaker for many years.

She was an employee of the former Philipsburg Hospital before moving on to the Department of Public Assistance, in Clearfield. After many years of working, Janet retired in 1999.

Janet was known for her laughter, fun loving spirit and determination. She dearly loved her family and friends.

She was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Ss. Peter & Paul Parish in Hawk Run. She was involved in many of the church’s functions and she served as a Religious Education teacher for a number of years.

Janet is survived by one granddaughter, Michele (Dixon) Geyer and her husband, Ronald, of Karthaus; three great-grandchildren: Austin, Connor and Issac Geyer, of Karthaus; a former daughter-in-law, Joanne (Dixon) Lewis, and her husband, David Lewis, of West Decatur; three sisters: Dolores “Lola” Yanko, of Hemet, California, Sandra Gallegors, and Nancy Weatherholtz and her husband, Wendell, of West Decatur; five brothers: Joseph Gallegors, Jr., William Gallegors, Robert Gallegors and his wife, Sue, Frederick Tomco, of Philipsburg, and George “Babe” Tomco, Jr., of Newmanstown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet has been reunited with her husband and her two sons, whom she loved with all her heart. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a younger sister, Shirley Tomco.

Per Janet’s request, there will be no public visitation.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on November 7, 2016 at 10:00 am at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Hawk Run, with Fr. Joseph Staszewski, Celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to Crossroads Counseling, Inc., 501 E. Third Street, Williamsport, Pa  17701.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg.
