Kathleen “Kathi” Knapowski

Kathleen “Kathi” Knapowski, 84, of Philipsburg, died Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at her residence.

Kathi was born on April 26, 1942, in Springdale, Pa., a daughter of the late Victor Adam “Vic” and Emma (Leskovic) Knapowski.

She was a 1961 graduate of Springdale High School. Immediately following high school, she accepted a position with the Navy Department in Washington, D.C. She would go on to enjoy a life long career as an EEG technician. Her career included service with the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Maryland and medical facilities in Modesto, California and Fairfax, Virginia. Later in her career, she relocated back to Pittsburgh in 1985 and accepted an EEG tech position with St. Francis Hospital until her retirement. 

Kathi was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dolores Bigler and a niece, Karen (Bigler) Johns.

She is survived by her partner, Diann M. Westrick, M.D., of Philipsburg; two nieces, Kim (Bigler) Federspiel, of Colorado and Krista (Bigler) Broderick, of Pittsburgh; and numerous other extended family members.

There will be no public services per Kathi’s request. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Philipsburg.
