Winifred A. “Winnie” Kizina

Winifred A. “Winnie” Kizina, 97, formerly of Philipsburg, died Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Cedarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Tyrone.

Winnie was born on September 3, 1929, in Madera, to the late Thurman and Anna (Kercenneck) Seabolt.

Winnie was a 1947 graduate of Madera High School. She briefly attended nurse’s training where she discovered that nursing was not her calling. She was active in her community at different points; she was the Tax Collector for Irvona Borough and Glendale School District and the secretary/treasurer for the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Philipsburg of which she was a member. She appreciated a good book and loved a trip to the shore. She liked to talk and tell stories. She was social and outgoing, making friends wherever she went. Even in her later life, she maintained an incredible memory, always remembering birthdays and anniversaries.

Winnie had several different phases to her career; highlights include: Bell’s Drug Store, JC Penney, Foodland and the Baltimore Life Insurance Company where she was part of a team that won the President’s Award in 1978 and 1979 earning her a trip to Bermuda which she especially enjoyed. She also owned a hardware store with her then husband, Irl Heverly, for some time. Even after she had officially retired, Winnie could still be found working as a secretary at Beezer-Heath Funeral Home.

Winnie was married to Bernard “Bernie” Kizinia, now deceased, on March 31, 1975, in Virginia.

She is survived by four children: Mary Ann Heverly and her husband, David Fitt, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Susan Jeffries and her husband, Ed, of Butler, Fred Heverly and his wife, Corinne “Cook,” of Altoona and Phyllis Heverly Flesher and her husband, John, of Harrisburg; three stepchildren: Gwen Hirchak and her husband, Larry of Italy, Molly Fleck and her husband, Charles and Debra “Debbie” Clemmer, all of Sun City Center, Florida; as well as eleven grand and great-grand children: Neil Heverly and wife Liz, daughters Ella and Sophie, Nicole (Heverly) Ritchie and husband Josh, Nina Heverly, Jordan Jeffries and wife Alessa, son Milo, Anna (Jeffries) Maline and wife Lauren, daughter Kayla, Sara Heverly-Fitt and Emma Flesher.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Bertha Green, Mary Groom and Doris Antonecchia and two brothers: Philip and Richard Seabolt, in addition to her parents and husband.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 1 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with Adoration Hospice Chaplaincy officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, from 11 am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.

The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
