Albert Ray Hoover
Albert Ray Hoover, 88, of Philipsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on April 19, 1938, to Jenny May Bishop and Elliot Hoover, Albert lived a life grounded in faith, hard work, service, and devotion to his family. A man of Christian faith and strong values, he believed in honoring his commitments, helping others, and putting family first. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, listening to music, watching Western movies, dancing, playing cards, and spending time with his many friends and loved ones.
Albert dedicated 30 years of his career as a lineman and was a proud retired member of the IBEW Local 1319 Linemen’s Union. He took great pride in the honest work he performed and the life he built through perseverance and determination.
Albert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Sue (Neidrick) Hoover; his son, Gabriel J. Hoover; his brother, Miles Hoover; and his sister, Nina Mae Krasinski.
A proud American, Albert honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. His love of country and respect for
those who served never faded. He remained active in supporting fellow veterans through his membership in AMVETS, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He was grateful for the freedoms he enjoyed and deeply respected the sacrifices made by America’s servicemen and women. Albert also was a longtime supporter of the Boys and Girls clubs of America.
Albert is survived by his daughters, Melissa Rae Hoover, Melody J. Foreman and her fiancé, Rhett Reams, and Bridgette Hoover, all of Philipsburg. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Ashley Thompson and partner Vanzelle Chatman; Jesse Schaffer and his wife Tessa, Logan Foreman and his wife Ashlee; Madison Foreman and her fiancé, Zach Kahley; and Gabrielle Hoover. He was additionally blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Albert will be remembered as a devoted family man whose greatest pride was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He never forgot a birthday, always showed up when he was needed, and remained steadfast in his love and loyalty to those he cared about. His family will remember his strength, his generosity, his sense of humor, and the example he set through a life of faith, hard work, and service to others.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the values he passed down and the memories his family will forever cherish.
A private memorial service will be held by close family members.
