Bernice S. Albert
Bernice S. Albert, 89, of Glass City, Philipsburg, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Heritage Ridge Senior Living at Windy Hill, Philipsburg.
She was born on February 4, 1937, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Henry H. Schnarrs Sr. and Verna V. (Conklin) Schnarrs.
Bernice was a 1955 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. On June 27, 1959, she married John P. Albert Sr. at the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg.
Early in her career, Bernice worked as a telephone switchboard operator in Philipsburg and as a telephone switchboard supervisor in Curwensville. She subsequently was employed as a secretary for the former Thompson Coal Co. until her retirement.
Bernice was a member of the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg. She found joy in cooking, tending her garden, birdwatching, and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, John; a brother, Duane Schnarrs and his wife, Mary Lou, of Gearhartville; two grandsons, Jacob Daniel Albert and his wife, Darlene, of Toms River, New Jersey, and Joshua David Albert, of Hurst, Texas; along with numerous extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John P. Albert, Jr.; two sisters, Betty Grace Butterworth and Carol Schnarrs; and three brothers, Lex Schnarrs, Ronald Schnarrs, and Henry H. “Hank” Schnarrs Jr.
A private graveside service was held at Philipsburg Cemetery.
