Dorothy Peck
Dorothy Peck, 100, of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and formerly of Philipsburg, Pa., peacefully passed away at home on March 6, 2026, just shy of celebrating her 101st birthday. Dorothy was born on March 13, 1925, a daughter of the late John and Victoria Miscavish and the sister of the late Paul Miscavish and the late Francis Krysiak.
Dorothy grew up in Houtzdale, Pa., where she attended her schooling and afterward met the love of her life, the late Raymond Peck. They were married on June 6, 1946, at the former St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Houtzdale. Dorothy and Ray moved to Philipsburg where they grew their family of three boys: Robert Peck of Murrells Inlet, S.C., John Peck of Clearfield, Pa. and Ronald Peck and his wife Sue (Dixon) of Seneca, S.C.
Dorothy owned their family business R.P. Supply, in Philipsburg with her husband, Ray, and their sons: Robert, John and Ron. In Dorothy’s earlier years, she worked at Best Jewelers, A&R, Dollar General and the Philipsburg Post Office.
Dorothy was the cornerstone of the family and deeply loved and enjoyed being with her family. She was always there to offer wisdom, love, guidance and was a constant source of comfort and strength for her family. She especially enjoyed card games and visits with her four nieces: Jeanette Holden (Robert), Pat Confer (Clark), Doris Taylor (Jim) and Joyce Reed (Brent).
Dorothy was very close to the late Bonnie Peck and did many trips and activities with her. She was also a grandmother to Tracy Cappel (Phil) of Pawleys Island, S.C., Dan Peck (Karen) of Houtzdale, Pa. and Sam Peck (Morgan) of Seneca, S.C.; and a great grandmother to Courtney Schoff (Brendan) of Southfield, Mich. and P. Jordan Cappel of Huntingdon, Pa.
Dorothy moved to Murrells Inlet, S.C. in 2022 where she lived with her son Robert. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards, family dinners and gatherings. She also enjoyed crafting and made special mementos for her family. She made many friends and most became like family. Her laugh and spirit will be remembered by all and will always be an inspiration to us.
Dorothy was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg for most of her life. She was a member of the Daughters of the (Slovak) Catholic Church and Widow and Widowers.
