Louis W. Zimmerman, Sr.

Louis W. “Lou” Zimmerman, Sr., 89, of Hollidaysburg, Pa., formerly of Port Matilda and Tyrone, died Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Presbyterian Village in Hollidaysburg.

Lou was born on March 23, 1935 in McKeesport, a son of the late Louis Jonas and Lillis Charlotte (Wall) Zimmerman.

Lou attended the former Elizabeth High School.

He was married on December 27, 1954 to the former Mary Ann Curdie, who survives in Hollidaysburg.

During his employment with Penn State, he was employed in the maintenance and campus patrol departments. He retired from Penn State with over 25 years of service.

Lou is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a daughter, Cheryl “Sherry” Locke and her husband, Joel, all of Hollidaysburg; three sons: Louis W. Zimmerman, Jr. and his wife Susan of Tyrone, Rev. Brian W. Zimmerman and his wife, Lynn, of Morvin, North Carolina and Charles E. Zimmerman and his wife Tina of Tyrone; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.

Lou was preceded in death by one sister, Lillis “Candy” Zimmerman; and one brother, Lawrence “Buddy” Zimmerman, in addition to his parents.

Among his favorite pastimes, Lou enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending quality time with his family.

A private graveside service was held at the convenience of the family at Williams Cemetery, Julian, with Pastor Randy W. Zitterbart officiating.
