Kelley Michelle Wilks

Kelley Michelle Wilks, 28, of Philipsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Kelley was born on June 11, 1992, in Tyrone, a daughter of Michael V. Wilks of Philipsburg and Barbie D. Golightly, of Irving, Texas.

Kelley was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg. She was a 2010 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. She furthered her education and received a degree in Japanese Studies from the Pennsylvania State University in 2013. She went on to be an English teacher in Japan from 2013 to 2018, receiving many awards and developing many friendships during her time there. Kelley was a free spirit who had an immense joy for life and animals. She was incredibly creative and had a passion for drawing and illustrating. Virtually all who encountered Kelley were struck by her kindness, generosity and loving nature.

Kelley is survived, in addition to her parents, by three sisters: Brandie E. Shingledecker and her husband, Michael, of Osceola Mills, Lara J. Jackson and her husband, Cory, of Boalsburg and Abigail C. McCormick and her husband, Curtis, of Altoona; two nieces, Cara and Lily Jackson, of Boalsburg; her maternal grandmother, Doris E. (Tidwell) Golightly, of Grand Prairie, Texas; her paternal grandmother, Gail I. (Thompson) Wilks, of Philipsburg; and numerous other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Henry Vernon Wilks.

Visitation will be at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, on Thursday, January 21, 2021, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, January 22, 2021, at 10:00 am, with Pastor Ryan Parish, officiating.
