Elizabeth A. “Laz” Wilcox
Elizabeth A. “Laz” Wilcox, 96 of Philipsburg, PA, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg, PA.
She was the daughter of the late Jonathan & Etta (Peters) Ashworth, born on October 9, 1916 in Osceola Mills, PA. She married George S. Wilcox on March 6, 1943 in Osceola Mills, PA. He preceded her in death on September 26, 1984.
Mrs. Wilcox was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Philipsburg, PA. She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing bridge.
She had worked for the Minds Coal Company in Ramey for several years. She was a 1934 graduate of the Osceola Mills High School and was a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilcox was preceded in death by: two brothers Melvin and Harmon Ashworth; and a half-brother, Ralph Ashworth.
She is survived by: a son, David S. Wilcox; and also nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the last of her generation.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg, PA, with Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.
There will be no visitation.
