Alvin V. Way, Sr.

Alvin V. Way, Sr., 57, of Brisbin, died Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at his residence.

Alvin was born on February 5, 1966, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Virginia L. “Ginger” (Vaughn) Way; and her companion, Carl Spencer, who helped raise Alvin and considered him as his own.

Alvin was a 1985 graduate of the Glendale High School; and a graduate of the Carpentry Program at the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center.

Early in his working career, Alvin was employed with the former Gallagher’s Farm, that was located in Brisbin. Alvin was then employed as a fabricator with Mustang Fabrication, Bellefonte, for most of his working career. He took a medical retirement in 2016 after over 20 years of service.

Among his favorite pastimes, Alvin loved to go hunting and fishing.

He was married on February 20, 1988, in Osceola Mills, to the former Penny D. Hubler, who preceded him in death on August 9, 2008.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lee Humpton and infant brother, Allen Vaughn, in addition to his mother, “Ginger” and her companion, Carl.

Alvin is survived by a daughter, Kellie F. Way, of Brisbin; a son, Alvin V. Way, Jr. and his wife, Jerri Lee, of (South) Philipsburg; a stepdaughter, Dawn R. (Hubler) Reams and her husband, Eric, of Chester Hill; and numerous other extended family members including numerous “children” and “grandchildren” that he considered as his own.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from 3 to 6 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.

Interment will be in Messiah Baptist Cemetery, Lanse, at the convenience of the family.
