William L. “Bill” Watro

William L. “Bill” Watro, 61, of West Decatur, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

Bill was born on February 23, 1961, in Philipsburg, a son of Linda Lee (Simcox) Denochick, of Kunkletown, (Pa.) and the late William P. Watro.

Bill was a 1979 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and a graduate of the autobody repair program at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center.

During his working career, Bill was employed with several area businesses including Walmart, Reich Drill and the former (North) Philipsburg General Cigar plant. However, he spent most of his working career as a forklift operator & trainer with the Coca Cola plant in Milesburg. He had about 25 years of service with the company when his illness required him to retire from the plant.
Bill was a member of the Philipsburg B.P.O. Elks Lodge and Country Club, Lodge #1173; the Clearfield L.O.O.Moose, Lodge #97, Morrisdale; a social member of the Philipsburg VFW, Post #3450, a member of the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen’s Assn., Driftwood and a Life Member of the Hope Fire Co., Philipsburg.

Among his favorite pastimes, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing; going to camp, whether it be “Camp Grumpy Old Men” or the “Whitetail Rod and Gun Club;” shooting pool and darts; and in his younger years, he umpired little league baseball games. Overall, he just enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Margaret J. (Webster) Simcox.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Linda Lee (Simcox) Denochick and Walter Denochick; numerous extended family members; and by his close friends, Keith Wisor and Gary Jones, whom he considered like family.

There will be no public visitation or funeral service per Bill’s request.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
