Louise E. “Toots” Vaughn

Louise E. “Toots” Vaughn, 88, formerly of Philipsburg, died January 31, 2020, at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.

Louise was born on December 8, 1931, in Osceola Mills, a daughter of the late Russell L. and Erma Olive (Thompson) Cowfer.

Louise, affectionately known as “Toots,” was employed during her working career in the housekeeping / laundry departments at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.

She attended church at the New Life Center.

Toots was married on October 2, 1946, in Philipsburg, to Ollin H. Vaughn, who preceded her in death on January 15, 1970.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Edward Vaughn; an infant sister; one brother, Ricky Cowfer; and one son-in-law, William Stark.

Toots is survived by two daughters, Shirley L. Stark, of Port Matilda and Peggy S. Reese, of Philipsburg; one son, James O. Vaughn and his wife, Deborah, of (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Cowfer and his wife, Patricia, of Glen Alpine, North Carolina and George Cowfer and his wife, Kathy, of Summerville, North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Esther Vaughn; and numerous other extended family members.

Private arrangements were held at the convenience of the family.

Interment was in Philipsburg Cemetery.
