Photo of Robert TulwitsRobert G. Tulwits, 75, of Philipsburg, died Friday, January 29, 2021, at James E. Van Zandt, VAMC, Altoona.

Robert was born on March 13, 1945, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Alfred G. and Esther R. (Franzel) Tulwits.

Robert was a 1963 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. Following high school, he attended California University of Pennsylvania and received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts in 1967.

Early in his career, Robert operated a print shop in Philipsburg. He printed Bibles in foreign languages for the American Bible Society.

Robert put his working career on hold when he wasImage of the US Army Seal called to serve with the US Army during the Vietnam War era.

Following his military service, Robert accepted a position as an industrial arts / printing instructor at SCI Rockview. However, his working career would be cut short due to disabilities incurred during his military service.

Robert was a Founding Member of the New Life Center, Philipsburg. He was also a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Robert was married on December 20, 1969, in Philipsburg, to the former Ruth A. Vaughn, who survives at home.

He is also survived by a son, Bryan D. Tulwits, of (North) Philipsburg; and numerous other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 1 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with Rev. John Dill, officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, from 11am until the time of the funeral service.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Philipsburg American Legion Honor Guard at the funeral home on Friday, at 12:50 pm, .

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
