Dorothy Eleanor Sykes

Dorothy Eleanor Sykes, 89, of Karthaus, PA died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her residence.

Born on May 9, 1926 in Karthaus Township, Clearfield County, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Narehood) Hodge.

Mrs. Sykes was of the Catholic faith.  She was a home maker and a graduate of the former Cooper Township High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: four sisters and thirteen brothers.

She is survived by: a daughter, Betsy A. McCann & her husband Dennis of Karthaus, PA; a son, John F. Sykes of Lancaster, CA.; a sister, Carol Lion & her husband Wendell of St. Mary’s, PA two brothers, Richard Hodge & his wife Jean of Williamsport, PA and Earl Hodge & his wife Margy of Ohio.  She is also survived by: six grandchildren, Joel Porter & his wife Mindy of Mineral Springs, PA; Russell Sykes & his wife Vanessa of Gainesville, GA; Ellie Ross & her husband Mike of Fayetteville, NC; Kirsten McKee & her companion Mark Hoopsick of Clearfield, PA; Eddie McKee & his wife Nichole of Katy TX; Brian McCann of Bellefonte, PA; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be at the Guenot Cemetery (New Garden) Pottersdale, PA

There will be no public visitation
