“Missy” Marie Henderson

Walter! this is a super shock. I will miss you dearly. You were such a good friend of the Henderson family. When I’d come into town, get my Dad and off to lunch we’d go, as we were always holding a seat for you. The Philipsburg Gang will miss you so dearly, you did so much for the community and it was appreciated by all.
RIP Walter.
Love Missy, Jim & Jon

Russell and Pauline Hummel

We enjoyed the company of Walter at many Christmas parties at the home of Dick and Darlene Humphrey and always saw him at the Rowland Theatre. Dick and I enjoyed seeing his old movies at his home. I would like to think of Walter as arriving, not leaving. We will miss him. Walter was multi-talented. Condolences to the family.

Cindy Creek Etchison

The community of Philipsburg has lost a wonderful, interesting, caring man! I have had the honor or talking with Walter on several occasions and he had such wealth of knowledge on so many topics! His laid back demeanor was one of the things that drew people to him. His generous hand can be seen all throughout our community through beautiful buildings that he found more valuable to restore than tear down. To his family and friends, my prayers go out to you at this time.

Lois Moore

Walter was an exceptional person and I feel so blessed to have known him and call him a friend. Philipsburg will never be the same.
His love for his town was so evident in all the things he did and accomplished. Rest in peace my dear friend. My deepest condolences to his family.

Joseph Yurky

I have known Walter since he was 10 years old. From that day until I retired in 2014, I worked in many of the Swoope buildings doing plumbing and heating jobs as well as installations. During those years, Walter and I became very close friends. Elizabeth, the last time I saw you was when your father passed on. I want to extend my sincere sympathy to you and your family. Walter will be always remembered in Philipsburg and will be greatly missed.

You are in my prayers, Walter. I remember especially your friendship, your passion for doing things correctly and precisely and always your kindness. Although we have not seen each other in some time, my memories are only the fondest ones. To you, Beth, deepest sympathy and my sincerest hope that all will be as good as it can be in this difficult time.

We thank Walter for being our friend at Saint Thomas Church – a truly good, dedicated and unassuming man, the Rock of our small church. We enjoyed breakfasts at The Philips and at the Elks. Every day we say ” we can’t believe Walter is gone” . God Bless Walter.
