My heart is so broken and no words can express how sadden iam of the loss of my dear friend Walter,it was a pleasure to be his housekeeper for many years he was like family to my husband and i and our children.He was a man with a big heart and a person who had a special love for his family,friends and the town of Philipsburg. We enjoyed the company of Walter at many Christmas parties at the home of Dick and Darlene Humphrey and always saw him at the Rowland Theatre. Dick and I enjoyed seeing his old movies at his home. The community of Philipsburg has lost a wonderful, interesting, caring man! I have had the honor or talking with Walter on several occasions and he had such wealth of knowledge on so many topics! His laid back demeanor was one of the things that drew people to him. His generous hand can be seen all throughout our community through beautiful buildings that he found more valuable to restore than tear down. I have known Walter since he was 10 years old. From that day until I retired in 2014, I worked in many of the Swoope buildings doing plumbing and heating jobs as well as installations. During those years, Walter and I became very close friends. Elizabeth, the last time I saw you was when your father passed on. I want to extend my sincere sympathy to you and your family.
