Basil “Wash” Sudik, Jr.

Basil “Wash” Sudik, 86, of RD Philipsburg, died Monday, February 18, 2019, at Windy Hill Village, PSL, RD Philipsburg.

Wash was born on June 2, 1932, in Hawk Run, a son of Basil, (Sr.) and Mary Eva (Plevyak) Sudik.

Wash was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Hawk Run. He was an army veteran of the Korean War era.Image of the US Army Seal

Wash retired from the Penn State after spending his working career employed in the maintenance department for the university.

Some of his favorite pastimes included polka dancing and playing the accordion.

He is survived by two sisters, Susanna Collins, of RD Philipsburg and Elizabeth “Betty” Vazur, of Youngstown, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary, Helen and Anna Sudik and two brothers, Paul and Joseph Sudik, in addition to his parents.

A funeral service will be on Friday, February 22, 2019, at 11 am, at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Hawk Run, with Fr. Peter Benyo, officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg.

A Panachida Service will be held on Thursday, at 7 pm, at the funeral home.
