Photo of George H. StoneGeorge H. Stone, 85, of the Village of Forest, RD Morrisdale, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his residence.

He was the son of the Late Chester Clair and Ida Alberta (Tusing) Stone, born on December 8, 1927 in New Kensington, PA.  He married the former F. Marjorie Rode on June 3, 1950 at Pine Grove Memorial Church in Dearborn, MI.  She survives him at home.

Image of Navy SealMr. Stone was a member of the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in RD Philipsburg, PA and was a Navy veteran of W.W.II.  He coordinated the food pantry at Abundant Life Fellowship Church for the past seven years.

He was employed by the city of Dearborn, MI, retiring as a building and safety inspector after 25 years of service.  He was also a self-employed truck driver in Michigan and was an auto mechanic.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stone was preceded in death by: two grandsons, Daniel H. Stone, Jr., and Isaac Bottorff; and a brother Harry W. Stone.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by: a daughter, Deborah Arthur of Milford, MI; four sons, George R. Stone & his wife Susan of Lakeland, FL, Daniel H. Stone & his wife Janet of Plant City, FL, Richard D. Stone & his fiance Veronica of Bigler, PA, and Pastor Jonathan B. Stone & his wife Lori of Dearborn Heights, MI; a sister, Violet A. Shipman of Leechburg, PA; and two brothers, Clair W. Stone of Leechburg, PA and Earl W. Stone of Taylor, MI.  Mr. Stone is also survived by: seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; and a foster daughter, Sharon Moore of Philipsburg, PA.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Abundant Life Fellowship Church, RD Philipsburg, PA.  Rev. Dean W. Krause & Pastor Jonathan B. Stone (son of the deceased) will co-officiate.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Abundant Life Fellowship Church, RD Philipsburg, PA.

Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, PA 16866.
