Photo of James SmithJames Smith, 73, of Philipsburg, PA passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville, PA.

He was the son of the late Frederick & Mary (Boggan) Smith, born on February 23, 1940 in Munson, PA.  Me married the former Thelma L. Woods on February 13, 1962 in Philipsburg, PA.  She preceded him in death on October 1, 2009.

Image of the US Army SealHe was a Protestant by faith.  Mr. Smith was an army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion, John Ashley Dennis Post #437 in Philipsburg.  He was also formerly a member of the Philipsburg Honor Guard.  He was employed as a truck driver until his retirement.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by: two daughters, Etta J. Smith & her companion Bob Kazlaski of Howard, PA, and Sherry Hubler & her husband Herb of West Decatur, PA; three grandchildren, James Bryan & his wife Skye of Osceola Mills, Leann Bumbarger & her companion, Eric Johnston of West Decatur, and Matthew J. Kelce of DuBois; and four great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, PA, with Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating.  Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery in Morrisdale, PA.

Visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
