Shirley Lou Slother
Shirley Lou Slother, 88, of Philipsburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College with her loving husband, Michael at her side. They were married for 64 years. She was loved and cared for by her caregivers Cathy Timblin and Paula-rae Gallaher. She will be greatly missed. Shirley and Mike loved going out on Fridays shopping and having lunch together. They did this for many years. Shirley also enjoyed bowling, sewing and gardening.
Shirley was a life member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Philipsburg, PA.
She was born on October 5, 1923 in West Decatur, PA to the late Raymond and Mayme (Casey) Wood. She married Michael J. Slother on December 10, 1947 in Philipsburg, PA.
Until her retirement, she was employed at Riverside Market in Philipsburg. She was a 1941 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Delia Dixon.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. Philipsburg with Rev. Brenda K. Leigey and Rev. Thomas McCoy officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg and from 1 -2 p.m. at the church on Monday. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
