Jacquelyn “Jackye” Shimmel

Jacquelyn “Jackye” Shimmel, 70, of (Pacific) RD Houtzdale, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at her residence.

Jacquelyn was born on January 7, 1951, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Jack and Eleanor (Takach) Robertson.

She was a 1968 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School. She was employed as a secretary throughout her working career; most notably with the Central Intermediate Unit, RD West Decatur, the Practical Nursing Department at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center and with Dr. Thomas Irwin, DMD, Philipsburg.

Jacquelyn was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg. She was also a member of the Houtzdale Lion’s Club where she was a regular performer with the club’s annual “Showboat” program.

Jacquelyn was married on August 30, 1969, in Houtzdale, to Robert B. Shimmel, who survives at home.

She is also survived by three children: Paul L. Shimmel and his wife, Dana, of (Hudson) RD Philipsburg, Shawn M. Shimmel and his wife, Erica, of Boalsburg and Krystan N. Nartatez and her husband, Dr. Mark Nartatez, of Philipsburg; four grandchildren: Joshua, Brandon, Hannah and Jonah Shimmel; three sisters: Karen Wilkinson and her husband, Jack, of (Forest) RD Morrisdale; Donna Shawver, of (Atlantic) RD Houtzdale and Patti Albert and her husband, Joel, RD West Decatur; two brothers, Eugene Robertson and his wife, Lori, of (Pacific) RD Houtzdale and William Robertson and his wife, Collette, of Punxsutawney; and numerous other extended family members.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 11 am at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 400 S. 4th. Street, Philipsburg, with Rev. John Gibbons, celebrant.

The Rosary will be recited at church on Saturday beginning at 10:30 am.

Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Philipsburg.
