Ralph E. “Jake” Schnarrs
Ralph E. “Jake” Schnarrs, 69 of Houtzdale, PA and formerly of Philipsburg, PA and New Jersey died on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA;
Born on March 22, 1945 in Philipsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Kenneth & Elizabeth (Steele) Schnarrs. He married the former Rose H. Campbell on March 4, 1967; she survives at home.
Mr. Schnarrs was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Philipsburg, PA and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Madera Lodge, #1172, Madera, PA. He was formerly employed as a mechanic for the Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington, NJ and he was then employed as a custodian for the Clinton Township Board of Education in Clinton, NJ until his retirement. He was a graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Along with his wife, Mr. Schnarrs is survived by: two daughters, Barbara A. DeFago & her husband Jason of Eden, GA and Renee A. Schnarrs of Philipsburg, PA; two sons, Kenneth Jake Schnarrs & his wife Nancy of Spring City, PA and Aaron L. Schnarrs & his wife Amee of Turnersville, NJ; two sisters, Armeda Sawtelle of RD Philipsburg, PA and Jean Smith & her husband David of RD Philipsburg, PA; a brother Kenneth Schnarrs of Biloxi, MS; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, PA. Rev. Scott R. Hartsock will officiate. Burial will be at the Philipsburg, Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.
Visitation will be Friday, September 5, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at the funeral home.
