Elizabeth Mae Rusnak
Elizabeth Mae Rusnak, 66 passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 14, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Gaedon and Myrtle (LeConney) Surge. She is survived by her husband, Martin Lewis “Marty” Rusnak, Jr. who she married on November 11, 1997 in Lancaster, PA.
Mrs. Rusnak had been a volunteer at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College and had been a loving and caring foster parent to over 40 children during her life. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, she had worked at Safe Harbor Power Corporation in Lancaster, PA for 20 years until retiring. She was a 1964 graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and earned her bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State. She also studied music and other subjects at various universities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Esposito.
Along with her husband, she is survived by: a daughter, Lisa Lowrie of Lancaster, PA; four sons, Bruce Gladfelter & his wife Sherry of North Carolina, Martin R. “Marty” Rusnak & his wife Minda of Lancaster, PA , Michael Carey & his wife Sandy of New Jersey, and Stephen Carey & his wife Amanda of Kentucky; and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg, PA.
