Carol L. Ruden, 79, of Philipsburg, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at her residence.

Carol was born on July 13, 1944, in Madera, a daughter of the late Robert and Bernice (Thompson) Shoff.

She was a 1962 graduate of the Moshannon Valley School District and a 1965 graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing.

Carol enjoyed a long career serving as a Registered Nurse with several healthcare facilities including the former Philipsburg State General Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center, Danville and the Geisinger Medical Center Clinic in Philipsburg.

She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of the NOP Club and the Contemporary Club, both of Philipsburg.

Carol was married on September 3, 1966, at the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg, to Gary R. Ruden, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2013.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelly R. Bell: two grandchildren, Marlena B. Hanley and her husband, Brett and Chase A. Capatch and his fiancée, Miranda D. Burmeister; two great-grandchildren, Palmer and Skylynn Hanley; two brothers, Wesley “Wes” Shoff and his wife, Bethany and Robert “Bob” Shoff and his wife, Louise; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Noon, with Pastor Ryan Parish, officiating.

A Nightingale Service will be accorded by the Central Pennsylvania Nurses Honor Guard.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 5 to 8 pm; and on Tuesday from 11am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.

The family extends an invitation for their guests to join them for a Celebration of Life and luncheon at the First Church of Christ social hall, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, following the service at the funeral home.
