Robert J. “Bob” Roxby, Sr.

Robert J. “Bob” Roxby, Sr., 71, of RD Philipsburg, died Sunday, January 28, 2018, at his residence.

Bob was born on August 12, 1946, in Philipsburg, a son of Arthur T. Roxby, Sr. and E. June (Price) Roxby, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was a 1964 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. He was a 1971 graduate of California University (Pa.) with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Communications.

He was employed throughout his teaching career with the West Branch Area High School. He initially taught Junior High English and then moved to Senior High English for the majority of his tenure at the school until his retirement in 2000. Bob also served as a former wrestling and drama coach for the school.

Bob was married on July 6, 1968, in Philipsburg, to the former Patricia “Patti” L. (Frye), who survives at home.

He is also survived by one son, Robert J. Roxby, Jr. of Philipsburg; one brother, Rev. Arthur T. Roxby, Jr. and his wife Rev. Irene Roxby, of Philipsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visitation. Memorial services will be at the convenience of the family.
