Larry P. Rodger, 73, of Hudson, RD Philipsburg, died Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Tyrone Hospital.

Larry was born on October 9, 1945, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Thomas and Kathryn (Miller) Rodger.

Larry had been employed as a journeyman lineman with the IBEW throughout his working career until his retirement.

Larry was married on May 17, 1997, at the First Church of Christ, RD Philipsburg, to the former Jamie L. Couch, who survives at home.

He attended the gFree Church, (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg.

Those that knew Larry would often remark that he had a funny personality and was very kind hearted. He loved working in his garden and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in his front yard. However, his greatest passion was traveling. Larry and his wife enjoyed traveling across country and have been to almost every state in the US; except for Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. They also enjoyed traveling abroad to various countries including Mexico, Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Morocco. They have also sailed on numerous cruises to the islands of the Caribbean. His favorite place to visit in the Caribbean was always Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Larry is also survived by other extended family members; including a niece who he dearly loved, Lynne Gilham and her husband, Pat, of West Decatur; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Rodger, of Hawk Run.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Rodger.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 7 pm at the “old” gFree Church, 344 Blue Spruce Road, Philipsburg, with Pastor Noel Meyers, officiating.

Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday, from 5 pm until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s memory to the gFree Church, C/O Building Fund, 344 Blue Spruce Road, Philipsburg, Pa 16866.
