William H. “Sam” Rishel

 

William H. “Sam” Rishel , 88 of Curwensville, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his home.

Born on March 25, 1924 in Westover, PA He was the son of the late George C. and Elva E. (Allison) Rishel.  He was married in Curwensville, PA on May 30, 1941 to the late E. Irene Bornhoft who preceded him in death on March 10, 2010.

Mr. Rishel was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church where he served as a church elder and deacon.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving with Company C, 7th. Armored Replacement Battalion out of Fort Knox, KY.  He was a member of the Robert Ferguson, Curwensville Post #342 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served as Quarter master for over 50 years.  Mr. Rishel was also a member and past treasurer of the Greewood Hunting Lodge for over 40 years.  He had been employed for 25 years with Howes Leather company of Curwensville and then worked for Superior Pet Products, Curwensville for 13 years until retiring.

In addition to his parents, and wife,  Mr. Rishel was preceded in death by a daughter, Rev. Carla Jean Williams; a grandson, William “Smokey” Osborn; three brothers, Robert, George and Timothy Rishel; and seven sisters, Buryl Davies, Margaret Rowles, Ella Fye, Emma Richards, Ruth Harzinski, Esther Maiorana and Pauline Jamison.

He is survived by his daughter Edith Ann Young of Curwensville, PA; Three grandchildren Bobbie Lynne Stagi of Hawk Run, PA; Leslie Ann Pennington and her husband Dean of Curwensville, PA; Lester H. Lippert and his wife Nicole of Reynoldsville, PA; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a son in law, Rev. Dr. A. Glenn Williams of Curwensville, PA.

Friends will be received on Thursday, from  10 – 11 a.m. at St Andrews Epsicopal Church in Clearfield, PA. followed by funeral services with Rev. Dr. A. Glenn Williams officiating with Rev. Gary Jewart assisting.  Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville, PA. with military graveside honors accorded by the members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.  Arrangements are under the direction of Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, PA.
