Photo of Barbara E. PetersBarbara E. Peters, 91, of Philipsburg, and a former resident of the Dayspring Personal Care Home, RD Morrisdale, died Friday July 7, 2017, at Windy Hill Village, PSL, Philipsburg.

Born April 23, 1926, in New Britain, Connecticut, she was a daughter of H.A. and Alma (Andersen) Christopher, both of whom preceded her in death.

Barbara was a graduate of Pottstown High School, Pottstown.

She was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God, (Hudson) RD Philipsburg. Barbara’s father, H.A. Christopher, was the founding Pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God in Hudson. His devotion to the church carried over to Barbara. She was very active in church functions and participated in every aspect of the church life.

Barbara was employed as a bookkeeper throughout her working career for a few Philipsburg businesses that included: Charles Navasky & Co., the Admissions Department of the former Philipsburg State General Hospital and the former Cowdrick’s Pharmacy.

Barbara was married on August 30, 1947, in Philipsburg, to William M. Peters, whom preceded her in death on April 27, 2016.

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Danielle Marie Pellow; and two sisters, Gertrude Pedersen and Marjorie Christopher.

She is survived by three daughters: Sandra Pellow and her husband, Daniel of California and Osceola Mills; Deborah J. Humphrey and her husband, Charles of Philipsburg; Christine Wilson and her husband, Greg of Philipsburg; a son, Gregory W. Peters and his wife, Donna of Burlington, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God, (Hudson) Philipsburg, with Rev. Daniel B. Winters, Officiating.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God, from 10:00 am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God, 236 Scott Lane, Philipsburg, Pa 16866.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg.
