Juan A. “Tony” Perez

Juan Antonio “Tony” Perez, 77, of Hawk Run and formerly of California and Pittsburgh, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at his residence.

Tony was born on July 6, 1943, in Long Beach, California, a son of the late Ramona (Lopez) Perez and the late Jerry Perez and his wife, Jenny.

Tony was a 1962 graduate of Western Union High School, Anaheim, California. He furthered his education at Monterey Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Studio Arts. Tony also attended Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington.

He was employed with a few businesses throughout his working career. Early in his career, he was employed with Zales Jewelers, Long Beach, California and Royal Dutch Shell. He was employed as a respiratory therapist for most of his career; and he held positions at Lakewood General Hospital, Lakewood, Calif., Eisenhower Medical Center, Rancho Mirage, California, and in respiratory home care with Prescription Care.

Tony was a member of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Hawk Run.

Painting and cooking were among his favorite pastimes and passions in life.

Tony is survived by his longtime companion and caregiver, James M. Taylor and their faithful “four-legged” companion, Sara, both at home in Hawk Run; four daughters: Catherine M. Rix, of Kremmling, CO, Dawn M. Perez, Long Beach, CA, Karen M. La, Santa Clarita, CA, and Ramona M. Perez, Lakewood, CA; two granddaughters, Breanna Grimes, Fort Collins, CO and Keelie Rix, of Thessolonica, Greece; one sister, Mary Helen Rodarté, of Buena Park, CA, three brothers: Robert Perez, of Cerritos, CA., Edward Perez and his wife, Bertha, of Long Beach and Richard Perez and his wife, Judy of Seattle, Washington; and numerous other extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021, at 1 pm, at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Hawk Run, with Rev. Cliff Johnston, officiating.

A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 12 Noon until the time of the service.

Following the church service, Military Honors will be accorded by the Philipsburg American Legion Honor Guard.
