Mary L. Motter

Mary L. Motter, 92, formerly of Chester Hill, passed away on October 13, 2022, at Windy Hill Village, PSL, Philipsburg.

Mary was born on August 22, 1930, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Nancy (Magestro) Lombardo.

She was a 1948 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

She was married on May 25, 1957, to Robert W. Motter, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 9, 2000.

Mary was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg. She served for many years in the church choir.

She was also active in her local community. She was a founding member of the former Chester Hill Mother’s Club; and she served for many years as the Judge of Elections for Chester Hill Borough.

Mary is survived by two sons, Robert W. Motter, III and his wife, Kate, of Blandon, Pa and Jerome H. “Jerry” Motter and his wife, Kim, of Palmyra, Pa.; one grandson, Jared J. Motter and his wife, Allie, of Phoenixville, Pa.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsay Motter; three brothers (and their respective spouses): Donald (Rose), Philip (Rose) and her twin brother, James (Betsy) Lombardo; in addition to her parents and husband.

She was the last of her generation.

A private graveside service was held at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, RD Philipsburg, with Fr. Michael Pleva, officiating.
