Mark R. Miscavish

Mark R. Miscavish, 52, of Philipsburg, PA passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013 in Decatur Township, RD Philipsburg, PA.

He was the son of the late Frank A. & Lillian (Kizer) Gallagher Miscavish, born on January 2, 1961 in Philipsburg, PA.

Mr. Miscavish had attended the Messiah Baptist Church in Kylertown, PA.

Image of the US Army emblemUpon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Army, where he served as an Airborne Ranger, attaining the rank of sergeant, until his discharge in 1996.  After leaving the Army, he worked as a dispatcher with the Pennsylvania State Police.  He was then accepted into the Pennsylvania State Police academy in 1999 where he served as a trooper until his retirement in 2011.

Mark was a 1979 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and a 2000 graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police academy in Hershey, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dorsey and Douglas Gallagher.

He is survived by:  a daughter Nadine Y. Miscavish and her husband Nick of RD Philipsburg, PA; a brother David L. Gallagher and his wife Christine D. of Winchester, VA; a grandchild Cameron Miscavish of RD Philipsburg, PA; and a nephew David C. Gallagher of Philipsburg, PA.

A memorial service will be held on Friday April 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home , 719 East Spruce Street, Philipsburg, PA.  Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.

There will be no public visitation, however, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Military honors will be accorded by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
