William I. Melius, Jr.

William I. Melius, Jr., 44, of Erie, PA and formerly of Woodland, PA died on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.

Born on February 9, 1974 in Philipsburg, PA, he was the son of Joan (Zimmermann) Green of Woodland, PA and the late William I Melius.

He was Episcopal by faith.

In 1981 Bill moved to Erie, PA residing at Erie Homes for Children and Adults.  He was a honorary member of the Albion Fire Station #62, Albion, PA.  Bill enjoyed volunteering for different causes and especially working at the local animal shelter,  His greatest joy was helping others when they were feeling down.  He touched the lives of many who have had the pleasure of meeting him.  His contagious smile would make the whole room light up.  He was truly a special guy.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: one sister, Amy Sue Casher; grandparents, William and Virginia Zimmermann and Irvin Melius; and step-grandparents, Reese and Silvia Green.

Along with his mother, he is survived by: two sisters, Jennifer Casher & her husband Richard of Woodland, PA and Christine Melius & her companion Jesse Zimmerman of West Decatur, PA; one step-sister, Jessica Peters & her husband Norm of Warriors Mark, PA; three step-brothers, William Green & his companion Paula Rae of Woodland, PA, Wayne Green & his wife Lisa of Morrisdale, PA and Jeremy Boone & his wife Tasha of Mansfield, PA; and one grandmother, Evelyn Melius of Philipsburg, PA.

Funeral Service will be on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg, PA: with Pastor Kenneth Pry officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
